Description
Rundle stone 10mm minus—also known as Rundle fines, crushed Rundle, or 3/8″ minus—is a dark charcoal-grey, angular sedimentary limestone aggregate that compacts extremely well. Made up of 10mm crushed stone blended with fine dust, it is engineered for strong, stable, and low-maintenance landscaping applications and offers excellent resistance to weathering.
This material is commonly used as a dependable base for patios, walkways, and driveways, where tight compaction helps eliminate movement and settling. When used on its own, it creates firm, smooth, and walkable surfaces. Its dark colour makes it an attractive binder or infill between flagstones and pavers, providing visual contrast while maintaining stability. It is also well suited for forming level, solid foundations for retaining wall blocks and other heavy surface installations. Additionally, it can be used for borders, ground cover, planters, and modern-style fire pit areas. For best results, it should be installed in approximately 3-inch layers and compacted with a plate tamper to lock the fines and aggregate together. Due to its high fines content, it is not recommended for applications requiring free drainage or as a base for artificial turf, as it can retain moisture and lead to water pooling.
