Play sand is a finely washed, clean, and non-toxic silica sand designed mainly for children’s sandboxes, sand tables, and other soft play areas. Its smooth texture and careful processing make it safe and comfortable for play, while also allowing it to be easily shaped for activities like building sandcastles. Beyond play use, it is commonly chosen for sensory play, DIY craft projects, decorative landscaping, improving soil drainage, and adding traction on icy surfaces.

This sand creates a gentle, cushioned surface that helps reduce the risk of injury for children and is frequently used in sensory tables and specialty products such as kinetic sand, which typically consists of about 98% sand and 2% polymer. In landscaping and gardening, it can be mixed into heavy soils or potting mixes to enhance drainage and used to fill minor low spots in lawns. It also works well as a fine, level base for stepping stones or pavers and as an accent material in Zen gardens, rock gardens, and around water features. However, it is not suitable for structural construction, pool filtration systems, or general garden applications requiring nutrient-rich soil.
